Picture Perfect. Makeup musts for gorgeous photos.
- Lighten up. Avoid going too dark in your foundation shade. Have your shade professionally matched to your skin tone as close to the day as possible.
- Matte is a must. For cheeks, stay away from shimmery powder, no exceptions. For eyelids, keep shimmer strictly on lids.
- Primary focus. Primer is essential for keeping makeup intact. It's like a base coat on a manicure. Oil-free versions are best and also sensiitve skin-friendly.
- Say no to SPF. Primer and foundation should be SPF-free. Forumlas containong sunscreen cast a ghostlike glow with the camera flash.
- Line up. When lining eyelids, start in the center and work your way to the outer edge. Lining the entire lid will cause the eyes to appear smaller. Use a slanted brush with a dark (but not black) shadow to line lower lids.
- More is more. A camera flash will wash out colors, no matter what. Don; be scared off by a dramatic finished look. It won't photograph that way.
- Blend, blend, blend. When it comes to concealer, cheek contouring and eyeshadow. a quality sets of brushes is a key. The camera flash will highlight unblended edges, creating a clown-like look, and unblended concealer will highlight fine lines.
- Mellow yellow. To set makeup, choose a yellow powder rather than translucent. Much like SPF forumlas, translucent powders cast a white glow whem photographed.
- An naturale. Always have make up applied in natural light. This will be best indicator of how it will look when photographed.
- Practice run. Don't let the day of the occasion be the first to try your products. Consultations and trial runs are essential to creating the perfect final look.
